Making Progress - Hobbs Challenge

I'm slowly making progress.  I took my sketchbook to the copy center and had it enlarged 400 percent.  I have been refining the shapes by tracing over my sketch onto tracing paper to make larger shapes suitable for cutting out of fabric.  I have a feeling my ideas are rather ambitious for the timeframe I have left.  But onward.   We will see what develops.

Sketching while Waiting

This is a doodle sketch I created Tuesday afternoon May 19th, 2009 between 4:00 and 5:00 pm in the waiting area of Woody Tire Company in Lubbock Texas.   With the scent of musty oil and grease and Dr. Phil on the lobby TV interviewing the attorney's of a jailed murder suspect,  I escaped to my sketchbook to pass the time and create my own world. Creativity is my coping mechanism of choice.

I think I"ll see how the fabric for the Hobbs Challenge will translate for this sketch.  It could be the route I take.  With the deadline looming, it is likely.

Hobbs New Mexico Challenge Fabric

Here is the challenge fabric for this year's Hobbs Quilt Festival Challenge.

Actually only the black and white dot is included. The other black and white fabrics are what I plan to add per the rules.

The deadline is June 15th. So, here is the challenge to myself to get it done!
