A day trip to Caprock Canyon was full of inspiring beauty!

Art on the Square was held in Slaton Texas Saturday. It was a beautiful day and nice to be outside enjoying the festivities with friends. I took these photos of a building we walked by on the town square. I was intrigued by the pealing paint, shattered glass, the raveled cloth all adding to the symphony of textures. The passing of time can't be missed with the holiday decals on the window that have aged to blend right in. So this too, evokes dia de los muertos as the passing of time turns everything to colorless crackles.

This photo is a small section of the quilt and looks like a composition unto itself. It is the section where I have accomplished the most quilting. I am in the middle of machine quilting and so far all is going well. This is such a scary part of the process. So much can go wrong at this point. The wonderful thing about working with fabric, needle and thread is that "stitches gone wrong" can be removed. It takes a while but usually all is not lost.
